내가 설교문을 번역하는 방법 1

설교문 번역을 할 때 교회에서 늘상 사용하는 문장을 어떻게 영어로 바꿔야할지 고민이 많이 된다. "영광을 돌리다, 덕을 세우다, 마음을 살피다, 열매맺는 삶"과 같은 말들. 

다행히 우리에게는 성경책이라는 아주 훌륭한 교과서가 있다. 성경에서는 굉장히 쉬운 표현들이 나온다. 우리말과 영어표현 둘다 모두 눈에 익혀두면 번역할 때 한번씩 생각이 난다. 아래는 최근에 작업하면서 기록해뒀던 표현들이다. 

감당하다	stand up under it, stand firm, fulfill
감추어진 지혜	the wisdom that has been hidden
거짓 표징	false signs
공생애	public ministry
교회의 덕을 세우다	build up the church / strengthening church
교회의 일꾼	a servant of church
그리스도의 향기	the fragrance of Christ / the aroma of Christ
근심과 고통	grief and bitterness
기도응답 되다	prayer was responded
깨어있으라	come back to your senses
남의 일에 분별없이 간섭하다	meddling in somebody else's affairs without wisdom in judgement
너를 통해 역사하신다	God has accomplished through you
다른 사람들에게 선한 영향력을 끼치다	have a good influence on others
