하나님은 이스라엘에게 은이나 금으로 신들의 형상을 만들지 말라고 하셨습니다. 하지만 그때나 지금이나 사람들은 우상 만드는 일을 포기하지 않습니다. 살아계셔서 친히 말씀하시고, 우리를 인격적으로 만나주시는 하나님보다, 내 마음대로 할 수 있는 우상이 더 편하기 때문입니다. 헛된 종교적 열정을 버리고, 하나님을 하나님 되게 하는 참된 경외와 하나님과의 인격적인 교제를 회복하십시오.

하나님은 이스라엘 백성이 제단을 쌓고 번제와 화목제를 드리는 곳이면, 어디든지 가서 복을 주겠다고 약속하셨습니다. 이처럼 하나님은 지금도 예수 그리스도를 통해 자신에게 나와 예배하는 자를 기뻐하시고, 그들이 예배하는 자리에 임재하십니다.

하나님은 천둥과 번개, 자욱한 연기 가운데 시내 산에 내려오셨습니다. 이스라엘 백성은 두려웠기에 산에서 벌찍이 물러섰습니다. 그리고 모세에게 중보자의 역할을 부탁했습니다. 하나님은 이스라엘 백성에게 이 세상의 물질로 신들의 형상을 만들지 말고, 제사를 위한 제단을 만들 때는 다듬지 않은 돌을 사용하라고 명령하셨습니다. 왜냐하면 하나님은 인위적으로 만들어낸 신이 아니라 스스로 계신 창조주이시기 때문입니다.

God told the Israelite not to make gods of silver and gold. However they didn't give up to make as these days people do. That's because they felt comfortable with idols than God who lives kindly saying and meets us individually. Give up all the empty religious passion, and restore your personal relationship with God and true respect that makes God as your God.

God promised to Israelite that wherever they go and make an alter for burnt and peace offerings, he will bless them. Likewise, God pleases those who come to worship him through Jesus Christ and he sits among their worship.

God descended from mount Sinai among the thunders, lightening, and thick smoke. Israelite were so afraid that they stood far from the mountain. They asked to Moses that he would be mediator. God commanded to Israelite not to make idols with the materials from the world, and should use untrimmed stone when building an alter for offerings. That's because God is the Creator who is the self-existence Lord, the Creator, not the artificially created God.
